Ellerslie Students - Eric Ludy Bio

meet BEN Worship leader   |   student LIFE DIRECTOR

If you’re out and about Windsor, you’ll probably find me...leading 50 or so Ellerslie Students in some miscellaneous student life outing!

Whenever I can, I like to steal away...and sit in a nice cozy chair at an undisclosed coffee shop, sip a creamy mocha, study, journal, read, and write.

Right now, I’m reading I was reading CT Studd: Cricketer and Pioneer (by Norman Grubb) and then he made the statement that he wanted to "be a man of One Book." That convicted me deeply and I decided to apply it for a season and my love for the scriptures swelled to a deeper satisfaction in those divinely inspired words! I have just now resumed reading Studd's biography and I also just started a rare book entitled: Man: the Dwelling Place of God (by AW Tozer).

Tea or coffee? (in case you want to treat the staff)

I try to drink at least 72oz of water a day (at least). But somewhere in Central Asia, I gained an affinity for Code Red: Mountain Dew. Not sure what it does inside of me, but, it tastes pretty good. And I also enjoy a nice cup of chai, or a creamy mocha every now and then.

Spending time with my family, worshipping Jesus with other believers, and seeing Ellerslie students grow every day.. always makes me smile.

When I was 8, I thought I was going to be the super-star shortstop for the Colorado Rockies, or the 4th member of dcTalk.

Something I’m most excited about for you as a student is... seeing the realities of what Christ purchased at Calvary take shape and become manifest in each individual’s life.  I can’t wait to see this group of believers living out Philippians 3:8, “Yes, doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ!”  Let the world see that Christ is preeminent in our midst and let them say of us: “Their souls follow hard after God, and His right hand upholds them (Ps. 63:8).”

My favorite aspect about the Ellerslie environment is...the perfect blend of healthy fellowship with brothers and sisters in Christ, serene afternoons of quietude, and joyous worshipful praise!

A historical  Christian character that could be my replacement here at Ellerslie would be...Genghis Khan! Just Kidding! ;)

My real answer is:

I am something of a blend between A.W. Tozer, Jonathan Edwards, Isaac Watts and Jim Elliot. Nathan Johnson thinks I need to add in George Whitefield as well.

The funniest thing that's happened to me at Ellerslie is... During the Summer 2010 Semester, I found a cool purple v-neck t-shirt on the clearance rack at Target. I enjoyed it thoroughly, it was comfortable, fashionable, and cheap! Some of the guys were at Target a few days later, and they decided it would be fun to buy the same shirt. Thus, we had about 9 of the guys with the same matching purple v-neck t-shirt. The next morning (a Saturday I believe), I came outside and discovered that a number of the girls had conspired to buy every purple v-neck t-shirt from every local Target's clearance rack! It was extremely funny to have about 20+ students walking around in "my" t-shirt! I don't think I've worn that shirt since then! :)

My number one highlight from the current/past Ellerslie term is...I am going to pick three. First, there was a morning this semester, Fall 2010, when a student got up and shared a scripture, and then someone said, "Let's get on our faces." And literally it felt like everyone in the room was flung to floor on their face before God. It was one of the most sincere movements of the Spirit I've ever experienced! Second, Summer Semester 2010, I was leading Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone), and the entire room was just filled with the sweetest worship! Third, when students arrive on campus at the beginning of each semester, I love the nervous, expectant expressions on their faces!
