Ellerslie Students - Christa Hahn Bio

meet Christa Wife   |   Executive director, his little feet

Around campus, you’ll most likely find me walking around with Mikey.

Whenever I can, I like to steal away and go on prayer walks.

Right now, I’m reading The Divine Conquest by A.W. Tozer

If you’re out and about Windsor, you’ll probably find me at The Egg & I.

Tea or coffee? (in case you want to treat the staff)

Coffee with stevia and half & half.

Children’s laughter always make me smile.

When I as 8 I thought I was going to be a National Park Ranger.

Recently, I’ve been contemplating starting to write some songs.

Something I’m most excited about for you as a student is the time you will spend with the Lord, growing into what He desires for you life!

What is one of your favorite hymns or spiritual songs?

"Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus" has been one of my favorite hymns since childhood.  When I was a little girl my Grandmother Bea would sit me down on her antique wooden piano bench and have me sing along to this song, as she played.  Years later, as I sing this hymn it rekindles that child-like faith within me, reminding me how purely sweet it is "to trust in Jesus...to take Him at His Word...to rest upon His promise...O for grace to trust Him more!"  It is as if the Lord is singing back to me, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away."  Song of Solomon 2:10

Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
And to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise,
And to know, “Thus says the Lord!”

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!

O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to trust His cleansing blood;
And in simple faith to plunge me
’Neath the healing, cleansing flood!

Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life and rest, and joy and peace.

I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with me,
Wilt be with me to the end.

Words: Louisa M.R. Stead, 1882.

What has been the most significant physical challenge of your life?

The most significant physical challenge of my life has been running the Grand Canyon from North Rim to South Rim (23.5 miles).  At the age of 15, when I ran the Grand Canyon, I learned how to press beyond what my mind thought were physical boundaries and I learned what it meant to be totally dependent upon God for supernatural strength, when all my strength was gone.  I will never forget the last switchback turn I took, tears running down my face, my body as weak as I had ever felt, yet my heart and mind stronger than ever.  At that moment, I felt God’s presence right there with me, cheering me on to the finish line.

What has been a significant verse for you this past month?

Romans 8:38-39 "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

This past month, in the midst of being in Haiti and seeing affliction all around me, the Lord daily placed these two promising verses on my heart, first to remind me of his all-surpassing power, presence and love, and second, to be able to pour out these promises to the orphans and widows affected by the quake.
