Right now I’m reading Hind’s Feet on High Places” by Hannah Hurnard. I read this as a child and remember really appreciating it, but I hardly remember it, so I thought is was high time for a reread!
Whenever I can, I like to steal away to the mountains for some time spent alone with my King - being refreshed and inspired! I so love getting away from the rush and bustle of every day life and just being quiet with God. The Colorado fresh air, grandeur of the mountains, and seeing His handiwork all around me never fails to leave me even more in awe of Him!
Tea or Coffee? (just in case you want to treat the staff)
Either one! Usually at home I’m hauling around a cup of Twinings Earl Grey tea (yes, I can tell whether or not it’s Twinings!) Although, I’ve been making myself drink more Green Tea, because it’s better for me. I do love a good caramel latte, too... so long as it’s decaf! Must. Be. Decaf.
Around campus, you’ll most likely find me mowing the lawn, trotting hither and thither on errands for various people, answering questions, chasing kiddos, emailing people, fixing a meal, stocking the supply closet, assigning new work duties and table assignments, laughing, teasing someone, helping mama (Sandi), dashing around on my bike, or, if I can manage to snag some spare time, curled up somewhere reading an inspiring book!
When I was younger, I thought I would be a horse trainer when I grew up. Horse training has interested me for as long as I can remember, and deep inside there’s still an urge to at least try it sometime!
Something I’m most excited about for you as a student is seeing the way God will work in your lives and where He will take you after this inspiring and intense 9 weeks of digging deeper into intimacy with Him!
My favorite aspect about the Ellerslie environment is...the beauty of it all. Beauty abounds here--the lake, the mountains, the epic sunsets, the fields, the quaint chapel, the sound of constant prayer, the worshipping, the giggles of children, the stillness of coming into the throne room of the King.
A historical Christian character that could be my replacement here at Ellerslie would be...I would love to have Amy Carmichael replace me, but I would hope I'd still at least be around here so that I could learn from her. She's such a hero of mine and I would love to just sit and talk with her.
The funniest thing that's happened to me at Ellerslie is...I have been sitting here pondering this for the past 7.38 minutes, and I can't come up with one thing in particular. Not because funny things don't happen around here, but because my role here seems to be entirely made up of funny moments. I frequently trip over my own feet, run into things (like light poles, *high five, Jade!*), say things that come out all wrong, poke fun at people and then find that the joke is actually on me, and etc, etc, etc.
My number one highlight from the current/past Ellerslie term is... I absolutely love our morning times of worshipping our King in song--these times are always a highlight for me. The first day of the semester has been a huge highlight for me from the past sessions, as well--seeing the nervous expectancy on the students faces, excitement about what is to come. And, in both of our last semesters we've had a "break-through" day...that's a huge highlight for me--we serve a mighty God!
