One of the many exciting things God has been teaching me at Ellerslie is how to handle my emotions. It has been astonishingly freeing to realize that, in one sense, my feelings really don’t matter. All I need to do with them is bring them to God and ask whether they match up with the truth and what He is feeling. If it’s not a match, He helps me ignore what I’m feeling and both believe and act on reality. Yes, that feels hard, but it’s so wonderful that my emotions cannot overpower or master me. They are not in control; God is.
Another thing I’m learning is to truly “take no thought for my life,” as Jesus commands in Matthew 6:25. That no longer means simply, “Don’t worry,” it means, “Don’t think about it.” God is looking after me. This is such great freedom!
Be encouraged. I’m starting to live the life that for so long I both longed for and despaired of as impossible. Ellerslie has been for me a dream come true and an answer to many prayers. When I came, I was afraid to ever leave; now I can’t wait to go home. That in itself is a mighty work of God.

If I was telling a future Ellerslie student about my experience here at Ellerslie, I would say…
Ellerslie is a place that has literally changed my life. Before coming to Ellerslie I knew that there was so much more that this life in Christ had to offer, but I had no idea of how to even go about obtaining it. I was striving to live a holy life for my God but I was doing it under my own power and by my terms. Ellerslie has been a place that has opened my eyes to what a victorious life in Christ looks like. The reality is that none of us can walk as Christ walked on our own power; it is only Christ in us that this is possible. I know this seems like common knowledge to a Christian today, but there is a difference between knowing it and actually seeing it lived out. My favorite verse for some time has been Matthew 16:24-25, “Then said Jesus unto His disciples, if any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.” Only through complete surrender to my King have I been able to experience the fullness of my Lord and Savior. In giving Him everything He has proved Himself faithful beyond measure. I wouldn’t go back for anything in this world.
LEAH | Colorado
Ellerslie has been a place where the Lord has said, “Seek My face”, and my heart has said unto Him, ”Thy face, Lord, will I seek.” (Psalm 27:8); a place of experiencing the joy of the secret place; of learning how to intercede; of becoming fortified and strong in the Lord so that I can be spent and used by Him for His glory alone. It’s place of taking another step in this life of abandon to my King, leaving me in awe of the way He satisfies while at the same time making me more hungry than ever to know and diligently seek Him all my days. In a nutshell, my experience has been that of growing in intimacy with my Lord—of my eyes being opened to see more of who He is and my heart being softened to yield more completely to Him, of beginning to know His mind and heart, and of giving my body, my hands and my feet for Him to use as He desires. Ellerslie has been above and beyond my expectations. It is truly a beautiful, set-apart place, unlike any I’ve ever experienced, and I’m so excited for you all to come and experience all God has for you.

If I were telling a future Ellerslie student about my experience
here at Ellerslie, I would say...
...That it is entirely different from anything I have ever experienced. Ellerslie is set-apart by God as a place where the mighty men and women are gathered. Being here for this season of my life has radically changed me. Wimpy Christianity has no room here. God is in the midst of this place. However, this isn't an experience that, like the summer camp high, fades into oblivion once we return to the "real world." The essence, the core of Ellerslie is Jesus Christ, and He goes with us. When I first applied, and later arrived, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I knew God would move in great ways, but what imagining is even as great as God's true plans? Ellerslie has FAR exceeded my expectations. I wish every Christian could come to Ellerslie, or have a similar experience, because God is raising up the students here for a grand purpose in His Everlasting Kingdom. It doesn't matter if you are seventeen as I am or even sixty, because there is no age limit nor minimum to following hard after Jesus Christ. It will cost everything, and God has called many of us to let go of a great many things, but it is worth it. To sum it all up, Ellerslie is one continued state of awesomeness.

“Be still, and know that I am God” sums up the backbone of the Ellerslie experience. Stillness is not esteemed in our generation, yet it is the inward attitude God asks of His saints. Ellerslie is a place where God will make Himself known in various ways. However, since we are not the ones who choose which way God manifests Himself, it is safe to be still and wait. This does not mean that we sit in our bedrooms, staring vaguely at the white walls. Yet, it does mean getting alone with the Lord, allowing His light to search and clean our hearts, and yielding to His patterns and fortifications. Being still does not mean that we canʼt laugh at Ellerslie - the very opposite is the reality. Yet, it does mean hearkening to the voice of the Lord even in the midst of laughters, and saying, “Here I am, use the members of this body as Your instrument of righteousness. Freely I received, freely I give for Your glory, my King.” As we stay still in His Presence, God unfolds the greatest adventures individually and corporately - He unfolds Himself. This has been my Ellerslie experience.

Within the first week, God had already surpassed any vague expectations I had for the entire summer here at Ellerslie. What we’re all experiencing defies any attempt to fully describe or give justice to all that God has been doing in our midst. What I can tell you is that there’s no way you’ll leave Ellerslie the same as you started. It is indeed intensive discipleship training, and yes, that means some things will be uncomfortable if not flat-out painful. However, if you are willing to press into God regardless of the difficulties involved in full surrender, you will find God will fill you to overflowing with a love, joy, peace, hope, excitement, and sheer life that has no rival in the level of happiness it brings. If you are willing to empty yourself so that you may be filled with the fullness of Him and then poured out for others the same way He was poured out for you, you will find Him to be much more than satisfying and will find yourself more than eager to bear His burdens and to follow Him into battle to rescue a lost and dying world. Ellerslie is a training ground, where warriors and rescuers are being forged, where intercessors are being made strong to be poured out, and where the reality of the spiritual battle over this earth comes into sharper focus, along with a deeper awareness of the awesome power of our King.

When I got here I really did not know what to expect, I had read several of the Ludy’s books and had been to a weekend discipleship conference, but Ellerslie is so much more. Take all the content from their book and conferences and then place them in an environment where prayer, study, and conversation are all focused on Jesus Christ and wanting Him to be magnified and glorified in everything. The atmosphere on campus has been described as a “new normal,” your old lifestyle is replaced by one of spiritual intensity. If you are coming to Ellerslie as a “retreat” or “vacation,” be forewarned this is the place where you will feel the heat of the refiner’s fire. yes, you will find rest and refreshment while you are here, but there will be growing pains. Ellerslie is where you come to die (yes I just said it), you must die to self daily so that the Holy Spirit of God may live through you. God is a jealous God, He will not “share” your life with you. He will have all of you or none of you. we must be dethroned so that the rightful King of Kings may rule.
CHELSEA | Wisconsin
At Ellerslie God will begin to build you into a true Christian, a "more than conquerer", preparing you for your high calling, sealing off breaches (access points for the Enemy) and making you strong to pour out. He is faithful to finish what He has begun. Do not think for a moment that He will be unfaithful. If you do, stop believing that it is truly worth giving Him your whole life. Without full surrender, you begin to give up, let your guard down to the Enemy, and grow lethargic. The Enemy would love for that to happen, by the way. Forget yourself and fix your eyes on Jesus. You must press on to the very end of all that you are, starving the flesh, and giving no room for "down-time".
The Christian life is one battle after another. Be not dismayed. With our God it is one victorious battle after another.
My heart's desire is to live at His feet. To draw ever closer to Him in His "Cave of Adullum", to lean against His chest and hear His heart's cry, and to have all that He is in place of all that I am. Living at His feet is the very purchase of the cross, our right to His throne room and His grace through our covenant life exchange with Him, and that purchase enables us to both die to self and live in Him. Praise God!
I am unworthy of my high calling, but He is worthy of the reward of His suffering.

Dear Future Ellerslie Student,
Let me begin by saying those who come here are hand picked by God to be here. This is the message He gave to me on the very first night and it has stuck with me. Each one of us God specifically brought here with a purpose, each needed to complete the first student body and the work God is doing in us both individually and corporately.
I began my journey with the anticipation that this would be a set apart season: Jesus and me. I would read my Bible, pray a little, and just enjoy being with Him. He answered all my anticipations beyond anything I could have imagined! I have died here and found life everlasting. I have knelt before the throne of Almighty God, trembling as He showered me in mercy and love. I have been called to a greater life than human minds can fully comprehend- the abandoned life. In Jesus is joy and peace unspeakable!
The time here is precious; it calls you to cast down the chains of this world (‘for we are born not into a spirit of fear and bondage, but of adoption…’ Rom 8:15) and seek a higher life, that of one fully given to God. (He is Worthy) A life like that, I have found can only be gained through prayer- pray all the time, pray until, pray through, pray without ceasing! God will equip you.
So as you are about to take that first step of faith I welcome you to the race (as it says in Hebrews 12:1). Put your trust in God, lean into the wind and leap! Psalm 31:24 says, “Be of good courage and He shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord!” Our God is good, He is faithful. I am praying for you already!

If I were telling a future Ellerslie student about my experience here at Ellerslie, I would say…
Do you have time for a five-hour coffee date?
The first week I was at Ellerslie I felt like I was living in a Utopia. Never before had I lived in such a holy, honorable, loving, and joyful atmosphere. I’ve experienced other discipleship training and Bible schools, but Ellerslie is completely different because it is truly set-apart from worldliness. It has been especially encouraging to know that I am being taught by a leader who actually lives what he is teaching and by watching Eric’s life I have been convinced that “Promised Land” living can actually be a reality in my life.
I have come to the place where I am able to say NO to the enemy and not allow him to make me go through a constant cycle of ups and downs. However, I have also learned I can not always blame the enemy because often it is my flesh at work. I was actually nervous to come to Ellerslie and learn about the flesh because I knew it was going to be uncomfortable. But learning about the flesh has actually been motivating and encouraging because the focus is not on the discomfort in the natural realm, but the incredible victory and power that results in the supernatural realm!
That all sounds pretty impersonal but it’s because it’s only an introduction into what I have experienced here…there’s no way to get it into 200 words
SUSANNA | Michigan
Ellerslie has been amazing and life-changing. The set-apart time and environment to focus on intimacy with Jesus and the like-minded students surrounding me has been such a “good and perfect gift” (James 1:17). During this time, He has shown Himself to be the same mighty, powerful, victorious God of the Bible who will reach down and be “more than a conquerer”(Romans 8:37) through me and “always leads [me] in triumphal procession, and through [me] spread the fragrance of the knowledge of Him everywhere.” (2 Corinthians 2:14) Jesus has been teaching me more than head knowledge here but to take hold of His grace to live out His truth. It has not been a time of constant pleasant feelings or merely a “mountain top” experience. The life that Christ calls His purchased bride to is utterly impossible on her own. Self must be kicked off the throne of my life (a rather uncomfortable feeling) for Christ to take full procession, but when all is sacrificed on the altar, it is so freeing. Jesus is so worthy and worth every drop that I give Him. Daily Jesus has been building in me a faith and dependence on Him that cannot be shaken.
SARAH | New Hampshire
Since day one here at Ellerslie, God has been pressing that I can do nothing of my own strength, only He is able to perform in me. When I came here I was a “good” Christian girl, I grew up in a Christian home, and I had good Christian standards. But I was trying to live the Christian life in my own power, which is impossible. God brought me here at a time when I was teetering between God and the world. Since coming here I have learned how joyous it is to fully surrender to God even when it is difficult or scary. If you have a desire or a deep longing for more of God, I would encourage you to bring it before Him and know that Jesus Christ IS ABLE and WILLING to perform! The Lord has been telling me through Eric, that if God said it, you can stand on it and reckon it as true. Ellerslie has become to me a safe haven, a place to draw closer to God without fearing opinions, to be strengthened so we can later be poured out, a place where the Spirit trumps the flesh, and the supernatural trumps the natural.

Ellerslie is a place where men behave like gentlemen and women like ladies. This is a training ground. It is learning the kingdom pattern for living, then actually living it. Knowledge is gained. It is not head knowledge, but the soul deep, heart level, intimate knowing of Jesus Christ. Ellerslie is a giving up of all you are to gain all He is. This place allows God to be as big as He says He is. We attend class, but our learning extends far beyond the classroom. Every meal, free period, and student activity is an opportunity to grow, serve, and pour out. Here, all is yielded fully to God. Staff, students, schedules, all are under the rule and reign of the Spirit. When He moves, we move. When He speaks, we listen and obey. No questioning, no worrying, just surrender and abiding. Ellerslie is a place of honor, where Christ-like love and preference is expressed in all things. It is the body of Christ, active and working. This is not merely a ten week training course with good sounding messages. It is a set-apart season to become wholly consumed and saturated by the living God.

Dear Future Ellerslie Students,
Here you will find hand picked mighties ~ men and women who desire to give their lives in full and utter abandon to The King of Kings, The Rock of Ages, and The Lord Almighty! When I came here I didn’t know what to expect I just knew I had a great expectation. The Lord has taken that and given me a cup running over! As I was reading Rees Howells Intercessor I stumbled upon a quote that defines the extraordinary people here in my midst:
“This band of young people were coming with something more than words.”
We are coming in the name and power of Jesus Christ! He has called us each by name and here, at Ellerslie, it has truly been the launching pad, the training grounds, boot camp for each of us to showcase His glory to answer His call, “Who will go and who shall I send?” Not only are we continually being poured into, but we have the privilege to pour ourselves out to the poor, destitute, and least of these. To have the honor of standing in the gap for others around us interceding for them, and knowing that it is not by my might or power but all the glory be to the Mighty Intercessor who is standing beside me interceding for me and with me!
Here you will find a generation with selfless faith rising up. Answering His call saying, “Here I am, send me!”
GABRIELLA | California
My stay at Ellerslie has been marked by victory, fortification, and sweet abiding in Jesus Christ. I have seen tangible results of victory in my inner life. Thoughts that used to plague me and temptations that used to knock me out no longer have a hold over my life, as long as I continue to stand with sword in hand. The training here has equipped me to fortify my life against enemy attack. As my heart and mind has been filled with truth, the lies of the enemy have become more apparent.
I was struggling with fully yielding and resting in Jesus Christ. Somehow I felt that there was always more to confess or surrender before I could walk forward in my spiritual walk. I now see that “Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Christ is transforming me into His likeness each day. However, I thought that somehow I needed to summon up the ability to be transformed into the likeness of Christ. Now I can fully say that my life is hid with Christ’s (Col. 3:3) and I am not my own. “I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God…” (Gal. 2:20). This is the sweetest reality. I have stepped into new realms of victory and joyful service. Every hour is sweet dependence and rejoicing with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself up for me. I have not only died with Christ, but I have been raised into a new life, lived by the Spirit of God in and through me. Praise the Lord! “I need Thee every hour, most gracious Lord. No tender voice like Thine, can peace afford… Come quickly and abide, or life is in vain.”
MARANDA | California
If I was telling a future student about my experience here at Ellerslie I would say that that this summer has been so far, the most pivotal summer of my entire 23 years of existence and my entire Christian walk. I came to Ellerslie to receive training because I thought I was ready for ministry, but God quickly showed me my need for Him was greater than chasing any ministry dream. He had me lay down at His alter everything that defined my idea of Christianity, and He spoke words of truth. It’s a beautiful process really, because God reminds us of our frailty. In how we try so hard to hold on to our pebbles when they are in no way valuable or comparable to the treasures He wants us to have. Ellerslie has been a season of surrendering, submitting, submerging, and strengthening. I am by far no where near where I should be, but my God has taken me out of a counterfeit whirlpool of complacency and set my feet straight on the path He so clearly mapped out for me. Light shone into darkness, truth has been injected into lies ,and my feet have been placed on solid rock. And as bonus we get to do it with like minded students from all over the world.
JOSH | California
Ellerslie is a place where Christ takes full possession of us… if we want Him to. Its a place where we surrender ourselves over to the King of our life, and let Him sit on the throne where He rightfully belongs. Ellerslie, for me, has been a place where I die to myself… but I've never felt so alive. Christ who lives in me is much greater than I myself would have previously thought. For me, Ellerslie has been a place of sacrifice. Where my fleshly desires to be lazy are smitten, and love, in the form of servant-hood comes out freely. My desire is to wash the feet of those around me, not to see if I get anything in return, but to offer what I do have to those who might need it. My ultimate desire is to be poured out for my Savior, and Ellerslie is a place where that little spark of desire is kindled into a roaring blaze that consumes all other worldly possessions. Ellerslie is a direct offense to my fleshly desires, its a place, for me, that my flesh screams to get out of. My spirit grows ten-fold when Christ is on the throne, and my flesh does not like it. Every fiber in my being tells me that I should listen to the flesh, but my spirit says submit to Christ and enjoy life that you never once have felt before. That’s what Ellerslie is for me.
STEVE | Minnesota
There is such a broad base of denominational bias represented in the student background here at Ellerslie, yet in this place all bias yields to the pursuit of Him. This is an environment much like Cornelius’ house in Acts 10 where ALL are seeking the Lord in abandon and He is faithful to meet that quest.
Jesus is who reigns here. Individually and corporately we seek the face of God, humbly, most of the time on our faces, and allow Him to do what only He can do in us. It is the closest expression to “coming to the unity of the faith” in Ephesians 4 that I ever have seen, and I have seen a lot in the fragmented Body of Christ.
We must all be ‘measured‘ by the Word of God, for He who was the Word became flesh so that we who are flesh may be conformed into the Word. Your time here will be a fortified, consecrated time to go deeper than you may even be expecting, so I would with a grin counsel you to not have expectations, but be oh so very expectant! You serve a BIG God!
This notion of Christianity is His idea; His idea to call us His inheritance (Eph 1:18). As preposterous as that should seem, Jesus will have His Bride, of which you and I are a part. This environment is about the Bride making herself ready and getting equipped for every good work. So get ready, set yourSELF apart, and be ready for the possessor of your soul to ready the ship and set sail on the most grand adventurer of your life!
MELISSA | Tennessee
Ellerslie is a training ground for men and women who refuse to accept Christianity at the accepted, mediocre level. It is a call to a higher standard where the Word of God is taken literally and the growth one acquires is encouraged to immediately be poured out on someone weaker. It is a season where you can come to get away from all distractions and just focus day and night on your intimacy with Christ. Ellerslie is an environment of constant encouragement toward Jesus and away from any hint of complacency that might creep in. We are challenged daily to die to ourselves in every way imaginable and taught the true victory we can have against the enemy in Jesus' name. Never before have I been around such loving and gracious people. When I'm tempted to become complacent for even a second, I have someone come beside me and show me the way to the other side of victory. Being here has changed my life and transformed my knowledge and love for God's Word. In leaving here, I now know there is no possibility of not following Jesus with my whole life...no matter where He takes me, I will have joy in going!
MIKE & COURTNEY | Georgia
MIKE:
If I had to describe what Ellerslie has been like it would be “a burning bush”- a white hot flame that burns away any and all flesh, yet preserves and strengthens the Spirit to gain complete control. The Bible identifies the Lord in Hebrews 12:29 as a “consuming fire” and that is exactly what He has been to us here. I have not only been taught of the Lord, but have seen and experienced Him move in powerful ways each and every day. This is indeed a place where the Lord Jesus Christ is magnified and treasured above all else, A place where all must be sold to purchase the costly pearl of Jesus Christ. Great manifestations of the Spirit of God have been taking place in abundance on and off campus in the life of my wife and I. I have learned much concerning spiritual warfare and the mighty battle that is taking place within my very own soul. I was walking with and knew my Jesus very well before I came here, but this environment, teaching, and fellowship has certainly given me a mighty push forward in this pilgrim’s journey. Praise the Lord for all He has done, all He is doing, and all He will do. What a mighty God we serve! May He continue to be the vision of our hearts. Hallelujah, all I have is Christ, Hallelujah, Jesus is my life!
COURTNEY:
My experience at Ellerslie has been incredible. During my time here I have been encouraged and challenged in my walk with Christ. As a true Christian, it can be discouraging living in America where so many people profess to be Christians yet they deny Christ with their lives. But now, after coming to Ellerslie and meeting like-minded believers, I am so encouraged to see that there are others out there that esteem truth and love Jesus with all they are. It has been great to fellowship with both the students and staff. At Ellerslie, we not only learn Truth, but we also learn how to apply it in our lives and live it out daily. The flesh is crucified, and the Spirit is in control. Truth is lifted up and falsehood is exposed. Jesus Christ is worshipped and glorified here. Mike and I got married just three days before we left for Ellerslie, so it has been almost like an extended honeymoon for us. It has been amazing to start our married life off here at Ellerslie. I cannot imagine a better place to be. This set-apart environment has been the perfect place to build the foundation of our marriage. I would highly encourage all who are hungry for more of Jesus to spend a season here at Ellerslie.
RACHEL | New Hampshire
Ellerslie has not been a school to learn more of God, it has been God coming in, turning my life upside down, and transforming me from the inside out into a bearer of His glory.
At Ellerslie I have come face to face with the reality of who I am in comparison to the vastness of who God is. All of my knowledge and ability seems so pitiful now. My glaring inability is completely conquered through the sufficiency of Christ. Through the class times, I have been challenged to lay hold of God’s enabling grace to live in the same epic fashion as the righteous men of the Bible. The things in the Bible that are ignored by most Christians, like praying in the Spirit without ceasing, when accepted with faith are becoming reality in life. Everything I thought I knew about God is being altered to fully accept who He says He is through His Word.
All of the affections, desires, people, and things of this world wither away in the light of my triumphant, loving Savior. All my will is surrendered in exchange for His will. All that I have is exchanged for the limitless kingdom of God.
HANNAH | Virginia
If I was telling a future Ellerslie student about my experience here at Ellerslie, I would say… get ready! There is no escaping Jesus here, He takes what is rightfully His and does with it as He will. Get ready for a fight with your flesh, a glorious and victorious battle, ending in the Spirit taking captive and bringing into submission the voice of your flesh. Get ready to decrease and see Jesus increase above all. I have learned of the intimacy my Jesus desires with me, the desire He has for me to come unto Him and abide in willing abandon, and as a result, Him abiding within me and taking the reins of my soul. Don’t expect your plans to come to reality, expect Him to turn your plans upside down and produce His reality. A hungry heart is all required, He faithfully satisfies and fulfills. Get ready to be romanced and shaped into a pleasing Bride unto your King! Get ready to learn what it means to be a Christian.
ELIZABETH | New York
Hi upcoming Ellerslie students,
My experience at Ellerslie has been truly a piece of heaven on earth. The campus is absolutely breathtaking and a place of supreme solitude and peace to be with Jesus. There are many fun creatures around here that God has placed in our midst. This is a place of Christian fellowship like no other. We are one big family here and truly love each brother and sister and desire to push each other closer into our King. I have truly grown so much in my faith here. This is a place of establishing deep friendships to last your lifetime. Ellerslie is a call to total surrender to our precious Lord and all that He asks of us. It’s a wonderful season to get away and totally immerse yourself in following after Christ with all your heart. The schedule is very well put together and has just the right amount of everything needed for full spiritual development. The staff are truly angels. Their love, support, and dedication to the students is phenomenal. Their testimonies of where they have come in their walk with the Lord and their example truly pushes you into wanting to get to know your Jesus more! They are absolutely exquisite and radiate Jesus in a very full measure !! This will truly be an experience where you’ll be in awe that Jesus fully does go above and beyond what you could ever dream of yourself ( Isa 55:8,9). Basically, you will never want to leave :) So come with your mouth wide open to your Savior and He will indeed fill it !! (psalm 81:10)

If I was telling a future Ellerslie student about my experience here at Ellerslie, I would say that Ellerslie is not only a Bible school, this is a place we can feel the sweet presence of God, we can see the spirit of God moving and giving more understanding in the word of God. It is changing and transforming many hearts and bodies, giving a new birth, a new testimony, a new vision, and making an impact for the glory, the honor, of the kingdom of God.
God says in John 15:16 a:’’Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring fruit, and that your fruit should remain.”
I did not come here randomly, God brought me to Ellerslie and is making me strong. I feel I have to pour out what He has begun in me to accomplish His work. I want to transmit this strength, to share His word, and to be an honor to His kingdom. I also have more understanding and take more responsibility about my position in Christ.
My time at Ellerslie has helped me grow up in my relationship with God and to pass more time with Him. I have a greater understanding of the Word of God, a better capacity to analyze past experiences with Him and different situations in my life. My eyes are being opened more day by day to see and understand how my God is powerful, how He is good all the time, and how much He loves me.
At Ellerslie, I have come understand and feel what a true Christian community really is. In the Christian life, we can speak different languages, we can be different colors, different nationalities, have different educations, and different social classes, but we are one family in Jesus Christ. The blood, the name of Jesus changes everything and we are brothers and sisters because we have the same Father.
